Review: I bought this charger along with a Splitvolt dryer switch. The combination of the two created a perfect charging solution for my Rivian R1T. My only other option for charging, other than spending thousands on a dedicated level 2 charger with installation, was using a 110V outlet in my garage. Using the 110V outlet only gave me 1-2mi/hr. Though this is a 40amp charger, I set the charging rate to 24A to work with the 30amp dryer outlet that the switch is plugged in to. This increased my charge rate to 11-12mi/hr.

Review: Since my EV did not come with a portable Level 2 charger, I bought this to work with the SplitVolt splitter switch I bought to use with my home’s existing garage dryer outlet. For safety, I had an electrician change my old-style ungrounded 3 prong receptacle to a grounded 4 prong receptacle, and bought the switch and charger equipped with grounded 4 prong connections. Review: I have been using this splitvolt charger for 6 months in combination with the 30amp Dryer Buddy Plus Auto to charge a Nissan Leaf and a Ford Lightning. However with the Dryer Buddy that automatically shuts off EV charging when the dryer is in use, we don’t drive enough to require an upgraded charger.
