Who Is This Product For?
The ECOFLOW RIVER 2 Portable Power Station is designed for anyone who needs a reliable and convenient power source in outdoor or off-grid scenarios. This can include campers, hikers, RV owners, boaters, tailgaters, or emergency responders.
The RIVER 2 can power a wide range of devices, including smartphones, laptops, lights, fans, drones, medical equipment, and small appliances, thanks to its 600W output and multiple ports. The device is also suitable for those who care about sustainability and want to reduce their carbon footprint, as it can be recharged using clean and renewable solar energy.
Features of the ECOFLOW RIVER 2 Portable Power Station
The ECOFLOW RIVER 2 Portable Power Station is a versatile and powerful device that can provide reliable power for your outdoor adventures or emergency needs. Here are some of the standout features of the RIVER 2 that make it worth considering:
One of the most impressive features of the RIVER 2 is its fast charging time. Thanks to EcoFlow’s X-Stream technology, the device can be fully recharged from an AC outlet in just one hour. This is five times faster than many other portable power stations on the market, which can take several hours or even days to recharge fully. With the RIVER 2, you can easily top up the battery while you’re packing for your trip, and have a full charge by the time you’re ready to hit the road.
Long-Lasting Battery Life
Another advantage of the RIVER 2 is its long-lasting battery life, which is based on Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) chemistry. According to EcoFlow, the RIVER 2 can be used and recharged over 3000 times before reaching 80% capacity, which translates to almost 10 years of regular use.
This is more than six times longer than the industry average for Lithium-ion batteries, which are more prone to degradation and safety issues. Additionally, LFP batteries are known for their stability, safety, and environmental friendliness, as they don’t contain toxic or flammable materials.
The RIVER 2 has a range of input and output ports that make it easy to connect and power various devices. Here are some of the connectivity options available:
- AC outlets: The RIVER 2 has two AC outlets that provide pure sine wave power and can handle up to 600W with the X-Boost mode. You can use these outlets to power devices like laptops, fans, lights, or small appliances that require stable and clean AC power.
- USB ports: The RIVER 2 has four USB ports, including one USB-C port, which support various voltage and current levels (5V/2.4A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A, 15V/1.2A, and 20V/1.2A) and can charge smartphones, tablets, cameras, or other USB-powered gadgets.
- DC output: The RIVER 2 has one DC output, which delivers 12.6V/8A power and can be used to charge devices like car refrigerators, air compressors, or drones.
- Solar input: The RIVER 2 has one solar input, which accepts a voltage range of 11-30V and can handle up to 110W input with a compatible solar panel. This allows you to recharge the RIVER 2 using solar energy, which is clean, free, and renewable. However, keep in mind that the solar charging cable is not included in the package and needs to be purchased separately.
- Car input: The RIVER 2 has one car input, which supports 12V/24V and 8A, and can be used to charge the device while you’re driving or using a car battery.
Lightweight and Portable
Despite its powerful output and multiple features, the RIVER 2 is surprisingly lightweight and compact. It weighs only 7.7 pounds and has a built-in handle that makes it easy to carry and transport. This makes it an ideal choice for outdoor activities, where space and weight are at a premium, and you need a power source that doesn’t add too much bulk or hassle.
Overall, the ECOFLOW RIVER 2 Portable Power Station is an impressive and well-designed device that delivers on its promises. It’s fast, durable, and versatile, with a long-lasting battery life, a range of input and output ports, and a lightweight and portable form factor. The RIVER 2 is also backed by a 5-year warranty and certified by TÜV Rheinland for safety, which adds to its reliability and peace of mind.
However, there are a few drawbacks to consider. The RIVER 2 is relatively expensive compared to some competitors, especially if you add the cost of a compatible solar charging cable. The AC output is limited to 300W, which may not be enough for some high-power appliances or tools. Also, the lack of built-in solar panels means that you need to invest in additional equipment to use solar charging effectively.
If you’re looking for a high-quality and efficient portable power station that can handle most of your outdoor power needs, the ECOFLOW RIVER 2 Portable Power Station is definitely worth considering. Its fast charging time, long-lasting battery life, versatile connectivity, and lightweight design make it a standout product in the market. However, if you’re on a tight budget or need more power output, you may want to explore other options as well.

Review: After reading the reviews and seeing very negative reviews of the bundled Roxio software, I purchased hoping it was usable with VirtualDub2, a free, highly rated video recorder/editor. The mixed reviews suggested it may work and I had no problems recording old VHS home movies to digital format. I installed the latest Roxio software from their website, then installed VirtualDub2, rebooted my Acer i7 laptop and followed the steps in YT video entitled “How to convert VHS videotape to 60p digital video (NTSC)” by “The Oldskool PC”. The following is my cheat-sheet that may help you get started: Capture Video

Review: This is perfect, really simple instructions and it works very well right out of the box. the information in the reviews was very helpful. got our home videos converted to digital format.

Review: I used this device to transfer all of my old home VHS tapes with little to no issues (Probably 30-40 half-hour tapes, some 30+years old.) The software is buggy (at least on Windows 10) so I only used it for recording. It crashed constantly if I tried to do anything else: editing, color correction, even saving a “project.” I don’t know why you would use this outdated software to edit and trim instead of a video editor anyway, but other than that for the sole purpose of capturing video and audio it worked for me. No problems with the hardware, either. The video quality looks identical to the tapes, take that however you may. Overall I would recommend this.

Review: I wanted to convert some family movie VHS tapes. It does a great job. I would have given 5 stars if I could have chosen the file format I wanted to save in.

Review: This product is ok and overall it did what I needed it to do. . . Eventually. The editing software really only lets you cut scenes out of the video. It is difficult to get it to stop where you need it to to cut the clip just right but it’s do able. I bought this to save my parents 7 VHS wedding tapes to a flash drive for them. I also wanted to ‘chop them up’ into rehearsal, ceremony, receiving line, etc. About half way through the program was having issues and kept saying ‘unknown error the program will shut down now’ and then closing (thankfully it still saved my work) I called their customersl service number and got a lady in India that was incredibly hard to understand. She took my email address and sent me a test email. Once I got that she told me tech support would contact me soon by email. It’s several days later now and still nothing. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it and it appears to be working as it should again. I spent less than $40 on this, and overall I would buy it again but not for a penny more. I am glad I got this vs. just the cord so I could chop up the videos because most free video editing software will put a water mark on your video but thankfully this does not.
